This discussion will focus on the design of real, touchable product and how the startup world is blending technology to create massive new businesses for the home. The event will be hosted at BenchMade Modern’s new flagship store at 455 Valencia St (@ 16th) in San Francisco on Friday, June 3, from 10AM to 12PM.

Panelists include:

  • Edgar Blazona, founder of BenchMade Modern, a technology-driven, on-demand furniture company that makes custom by-the-inch sofas in as little as 24 hours
  • Jeff Chapin, chief product officer and co-founder at Casper, the online sleep startup whose “obsessively-engineered” mattress was recognized as one of Time Magazine’s best inventions of 2015
  • Will Carey, design director at IDEO, an award-winning global design firm

The conversation will be moderated by Aaron Britt, senior editor at IDEO.org, where he leads storytelling, editorial strategy, and communications. With over a decade of experience as a writer, editor, journalist, and video maker, Aaron is currently a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, and was previously Deputy Editor at Dwell Magazine.
