Manual: Work from San Francisco
Join Tom Crabtree and Manual as they discuss working with local San Francisco organizations: San Francisco Design Week, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Fort Point Beer Company.
Tom will discuss the studio’s initial inspirations for each project, the design processes that have led to award-winning work, and what it’s like to collaborate with clients that place design at the heart of what they do.
Manual will be joined by Jen Martindale, Chief of Marketing for YBCA and Justin Catalana, Founder of Fort Point Beer Company for a Q&A to discuss how branding and rebranding has impacted the work they do.
Manual is a design and branding studio based in San Francisco. We help our clients express themselves and their products through iconic brand identities and beautiful experiences. Our work strives to clarify purpose, build meaning, and stir up curiosity and emotion.
Creative Director & Founder
Born in Yorkshire, England, Tom began his career in London working for leading design studios with clients in art, architecture, fashion, and music. After a decade in London, Tom relocated to San Francisco to join Apple’s design team, working on packaging design and art direction. In 2009 Tom founded Manual with the intention of creating a design studio that fused these two backgrounds—combining creative expression with highly disciplined brand creation.
