This is not a still life and we are not still people. So why do so many apps use static images as the main feature of a profile? With the rise of video and adoption of new technologies, there are variety of new ways to add authenticity to an experience so that if feels more true to life.
In its quest to create a more intimate way of trying to get to know someone, the online dating site Zoosk has focused on creating a moving profile that goes beyond static images and a list of hobbies to help its users get to know each other better, faster. In this talk, Lively’s Lead UI Designer and Zoosk’s Sr. Director of Applications Engineering will show how product design, user research, and engineering took the standard static experience of an online dating profile and turned into one that is unique and engaging.
